The main flavour thrust is based on melon, pear, rhubarb and apple, with the careful addition of vegetables and other herbs and spices that contribute to impact and detail. There is a faint ozone tang which hints at a shoreline vibe while ensuring that the palate is super-sleek, firmly dry and very long.

Jukes 8 is Matthew Jukes’ take on a modern rosé, with a nod to the hallmarks and historical triggers of some of his favourite Provençal wines. This rosé wine alternative evokes the flavours of the wild Provençal countryside and the Mediterranean coastline through a delicate layering of fruit, vegetables, herbs and spices.

1 bottle of Jukes 8 makes two glasses. Take a wine glass, fill it with 3.5 oz chilled still, sparkling or, even, tonic water. Pour in half a bottle of Jukes and swirl. Adjust by adding more Jukes or water to suit your palate. We love it especially with still water.

Refrigerate the bottle once opened.

Quite good!

I’ve tried a lot of AF wines and this by far is the best. It has some bite which most don’t. I think reds are particularly hard to make AF and this does a pretty good job. Maybe a little sweet but it’s complex - most are very one dimensional. I have not tried the other incarnations - just the wine recipe. But so far I like it.

Big Versatility in a Small Bottle

I purchased what I expected to be something complex and sophisticated to put in my neglected stemware, and Jukes 6 is certainly that, but what I wasn't expecting was the incredible versatility of this curious little cordial. As I was sipping my dark red with dinner, my mind kept jumping ahead to cocktails the next afternoon, something I haven't been excited about in ages. I woke up the next morning craving it, and decided I needed to moderate in order to keep it special. I peeled the label and gave the bottle to my daughter for her potions. That felt right. There's something of a spell in this cordial concoction.
